
A four-storey building housing Yemco Daycare Nursery, Primary and Comprehensive College in Ogba, Lagos, collapsed on Monday, March 9, around 11 am.
Fortunately, students and teachers were evacuated moments before the collapse, and no lives were lost. However, some students were hospitalised due to injuries sustained during the evacuation.

Residents alerted school authorities after noticing cracks in the building’s wall, prompting a swift evacuation. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), quickly arrived at the scene to secure the area.
The Lagos State Government has launched an investigation into the incident, and nearby buildings have been sealed pending structural safety assessments.
The incident has raised concerns about building safety regulations and enforcement in Lagos.
