The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the return of the state’s monthly environmental sanitation exercise, urging residents to take responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.
Speaking during a visit to Mushin–Agege Motor Road alongside officials of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, the governor flagged off the renewed sanitation campaign and confirmed that the exercise will officially resume on Saturday, April 25, 2026.
According to him, the environmental sanitation exercise will now take place on the last Saturday of every month between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. across the state.
Sanwo-Olu encouraged residents of Lagos to actively participate by cleaning their surroundings, clearing drains, and ensuring proper waste disposal within their communities.
He emphasised that the vision of a cleaner and healthier Lagos requires collective effort from residents across all local government areas.
“The Lagos we all want will not appear overnight. It will come from the small actions we take together, street by street, from one local government to another,” the governor said.
The state government also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the initiative and ensuring compliance across communities as part of broader efforts to improve sanitation, public health, and environmental sustainability in the state.
