Don’t Take Chances: Police remind Nigerians to prioritize personal safety during crimes

The Nigerian Police Force is asking everyone to think about their safety first if they run into criminals.

During a TV interview, police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin said people should stay calm and not try to fight back. He said that fighting back could make things worse and put lives at risk.

Hundeyin noted that staying alive is more important than fighting criminals who have weapons or are violent. He added that the police are better prepared to deal with these kinds of threats.

If you’re ever around criminals, don’t struggle or fight. Just stay calm and save yourself. We can always find them and bring them in later, he said.

He also mentioned that the police have been doing well in the fight against criminal groups, including the One-Chance gangs in Abuja.

He said that officers recently caught members of the gang who killed a lawyer and even got the victim’s phone back.
