Wike Unleashes Fury On Makinde: You’re Playing With Fire!

Nyesom Wike, the fiery FCT Minister, has delivered a blazing warning to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, accusing him of recklessly playing with fire by stirring discord within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Speaking at the 107th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, Wike slammed Makinde for allegedly starting a fight he’s bound to lose. He took issue with comments allegedly made by Makinde about his meetings with Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Stressing that politics isn’t a game for contractors seeking to cash in – it’s a battle for power!

Describing the situation as regrettable, Wike suggested that some battles are better left untouched if there isn’t enough strength to follow them through

The former Rivers State governor didn’t stop there. He criticised what he sees as a growing trend of treating politics like a business venture, drawing a sharp line between the pursuit of money and the quest for power. According to him, his involvement in politics has always been about influence and authority, not contracts or financial gain.

He also used the moment to caution party members against needless confrontations, stressing that successful politics demands careful planning, discipline, and clear strategy, not just bold talk.

With the party’s national convention on the horizon, Wike issued a firm warning: only those who show genuine commitment should consider themselves loyal members. Anyone unwilling to fully participate, he said, shouldn’t expect recognition afterwards.

He ended with a call for unity, urging party leaders to focus on reconciliation while remaining honest and intentional in their dealings.
