Sokoto Man Hospitalised After Wife Allegedly Pours Hot Oil on Him Over Infidelity Suspicions.

A shocking domestic dispute in Sokoto left a man hospitalised after his wife allegedly poured hot oil on his private parts, accusing him of infidelity.

Bello Abubakar, a resident of the Yar Gabas area, recounted that the incident occurred shortly after he returned home from morning prayers. He vehemently denied the allegations, insisting there was no truth to the claim, and suggested that his wife had been struggling with personal issues.

“I left for Subhi prayers and returned home to find her crying, but she wouldn’t explain why,” Abubakar said. “Later, as I was preparing to leave for work, she asked me to wait. I never imagined any danger, but suddenly I felt intense heat on my private part and began screaming. By then, I had already sustained burns.”

Abubakar is currently receiving treatment at a specialist hospital in Sokoto and reports that his condition is improving.

A relative, Tasiu Abubakar, said the couple had lived peacefully prior to the attack but hinted at underlying family tensions, including initial opposition from the woman’s mother. Both families are now pursuing reconciliation and are not taking legal action at this stage.

Attempts to reach the wife or her relatives for comments were unsuccessful. The Sokoto State Police spokesperson, Ahmad Rufai, confirmed the case is under investigation, but no official update had been released at the time of filing.

The incident has sparked discussions on the dangers of unresolved domestic disputes and the importance of early intervention to prevent violence in homes.
