Hajiya Hadiza, the wife of former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega, has died.
The sad news was announced by Bayero University Kano, where Jega previously served as Vice-Chancellor, in a statement shared on the institution’s official social media platforms.
“With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega. Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un,” the statement read.
According to the university, her Janazah prayer is scheduled to take place immediately after the Zuhr prayer on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the National Mosque in Abuja.
The University also offered prayers for the deceased, asking Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus, while also praying for strength and patience for the grieving family during this difficult time.
