YOLA, April 14, 2026 An ADC faction suspended former VP *Atiku Abubakar* Monday. The group also suspended ex-SGF *Babachir Lawal* over alleged anti-party acts.
What Happened
Hon. Mohammed Raji Zumo announced the move in Yola Sunday night. Zumo calls himself the factional state chairman. He said the suspension hits transition chair Sadiq Dasin too.
The faction wants the party to expel all three. Zumo linked the decision to disputed state congresses. He spoke at a press briefing late Sunday.
Rival Camp Fires Back
Adamawa ADC Chairman *Shehu Yohanna* rejected the move. He said Zumo lacks power to suspend anyone. Yohanna called Zumo a former deputy who “disappeared from the party”.
Babachir Lawal also dismissed the suspension. He called it the “product of Indian hemp”. Lawal said Zumo holds “no reasonable position in the ADC.”
Court Order Fuels Crisis
A court issued a restraining order on April 10, 2026. The order stopped the ADC from holding the Adamawa congress. That congress named Dasin as transition chairman.
The legal fight split the state chapter. Both sides now claim they lead the party.
Why It Matters
The ADC faces deep cracks in Adamawa. The fight comes before key political shifts in the state. More factional battles may follow.
Both camps now plan their next moves. The national body has not picked a side yet.
