Morocco Coach Regragui Stands Firm Amid Criticism

Morocco coach Walid Regragui defended his team’s approach ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final clash against Cameroon. Despite criticism for being overly cautious, Regragui emphasized the importance of humility.

“We have the humility to believe that we can win this Cup of Nations,” he said. “It’s a tournament that requires staying grounded, even if people do not want to understand that.”

Regragui acknowledged the pressure but expressed confidence in his team. “We are still thinking the same way and have confidence in what we are doing. The players feel it and we know we have to live up to it.”

He also warned of a tough match against Cameroon, saying, “This will be a clash that will reverberate around the continent. Cameroon needs no introduction. We know it’s going to be tough again.”

The team’s fitness was also a concern, with defensive midfielder Sofyan Amrabat’s injury status uncertain.
