Governor Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering reliable electricity across Abia State through a strengthened partnership with the Niger Delta Power Holding Company.
The governor said stable electricity remains a key requirement for industrial growth, job creation, and improved living standards in the state. According to him, Abia can no longer rely entirely on the national grid if it hopes to meet the growing energy demands of businesses and residents.
Speaking during discussions with officials of the power company, Otti stressed that his administration is prioritising energy reforms as part of its broader economic transformation agenda. He noted that improved electricity supply would support manufacturing activities, attract investors, and encourage small businesses to expand operations.
The partnership with NDPHC is expected to focus on strengthening power infrastructure, increasing electricity distribution capacity, and exploring alternative energy solutions that can support sustainable development in Abia.
Otti also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing reforms in Nigeria’s electricity sector and acknowledged efforts aimed at expanding opportunities for states to participate more actively in power generation and distribution.
Officials of the power company expressed confidence that stronger collaboration between state governments and energy agencies would help improve electricity access across the country. The organisation recently reiterated its commitment to delivering more stable and sustainable power to Nigerians through ongoing reforms and infrastructure investments.
The development is seen as another step in Abia State’s efforts to modernise critical infrastructure and position itself as a destination for investment and industrial expansion.
