Tinubu Congratulates Rangers on Ninth NPFL Title

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Rangers International F.C. following the club’s victory in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), describing the achievement as another landmark moment in Nigerian football.

The Enugu-based side clinched the league title after finishing top of the standings with 68 points from 38 matches, ahead of close rivals Rivers United F.C.. The success marks Rangers’ ninth domestic league crown, further cementing the club’s status as one of the country’s most decorated football institutions.

In a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the players, coaching crew, management, and supporters for what he described as an outstanding campaign.

Tinubu also reflected on the club’s rich football history, recalling its dominance during the 1970s and 1980s when Rangers won multiple league and FA Cup titles while also making a strong impact on the continental stage.

The President commended Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah for supporting sports development and youth investment in the state, saying the league triumph reflects the results of sustained commitment to football growth.

“I am proud of their achievement,” Tinubu said while praising the club’s contribution to Nigerian football and its role in producing talented players who represented the country internationally.

The President also applauded Rivers United for their competitive performance throughout the season and encouraged both clubs as they prepare to represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League competition.
