BEOKUTA, OGUN STATE — Popular retired broadcaster Kitan Oyesiku, widely known as “Aunty Kitan,” has been killed alongside her security guard in a shocking attack at her residence in the Agodo community along the Abeokuta–Siun–Sagamu Expressway in Ogun State.
According to reports, the victims were discovered dead in the early hours of Sunday after church members became concerned when Oyesiku failed to attend service and went to check on her. Upon arrival, they reportedly found the security guard dead and later discovered Oyesiku’s body inside the residence.
Police authorities confirmed the incident and said an investigation has commenced. Preliminary findings indicate signs of forced entry at the residence. The security guard’s body was found at the security post, while Oyesiku was found inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also reported missing from the premises.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said detectives have been deployed and intelligence-led operations have been intensified to identify and apprehend those responsible. Ogun State Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the killings.
Aunty Kitan was a respected media personality who served with Ogun State Television before her retirement. News of her death has sent shockwaves through Ogun State’s media community, with colleagues, friends, and residents mourning the loss of a broadcaster widely admired for her professionalism and dedication.
The bodies of the deceased have reportedly been deposited at the State Hospital morgue in Ijaiye, Abeokuta, while police continue their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the attack.
