LAGOS, Nigeria: Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church has raised the alarm over alleged plans to eliminate former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election.
Ayodele reportedly issued the warning in a video shared on his verified X account, urging both opposition politicians to take their personal security seriously as political activities intensify ahead of the election.
According to the cleric, there are people allegedly seeking to eliminate Obi and Atiku, although he did not identify those he claimed were behind the alleged plot.
“Obi and Atiku, be very conscious of your security. They are looking for any means to eliminate Obi and Atiku,” Ayodele warned.
He added that he believed the alleged plans would not succeed, saying: “But God will never allow it to happen. Watch out and be cautious about your security.”
The warning comes as political activity surrounding the 2027 presidential election continues to gather momentum, with Obi and Atiku among the prominent opposition figures positioning themselves for the contest.
Both politicians have been associated with the African Democratic Congress (ADC) opposition coalition, which is seeking to build a formidable platform to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Ayodele had previously made several predictions concerning the 2027 election. In July, reports quoted him as saying the presidential contest could largely come down to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku, while also predicting difficulties for Obi in some parts of the country.
His latest warning, however, concerns an alleged security threat rather than an established assassination plot. No independent evidence publicly confirms the existence of such a plot against Obi or Atiku.
The development is likely to generate further debate as Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections, particularly amid heightened political tensions and competition among the major political blocs.
