The United Kingdom 🇬🇧 has announced temporary airspace restrictions and road closures ahead of the state visit of Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as part of extensive security arrangements for the high-profile diplomatic event.
According to security officials, the visit—hosted by King Charles III—will take place in the historic town of Windsor, where several protective measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of dignitaries, residents, and visitors. The visit will include activities around Windsor Castle, one of the main royal residences.
Authorities said a temporary airspace restriction zone will be enforced around Windsor on the day of the visit. The restriction, coordinated by the Civil Aviation Authority and supported by national air traffic authorities, will run from 7:00 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. and will extend the already existing permanent no-fly zone around Windsor Castle.

On the ground, major security operations and traffic controls will also be implemented. Several roads in and around Windsor will experience temporary closures, parking restrictions, and traffic diversions starting a day before the visit to allow the smooth movement of official convoys and visiting delegations.
Security agencies, including Thames Valley Police, said they will deploy armed officers, mounted police units, specialist search teams, and road-policing units across key areas. Additional measures will include surveillance through the city’s extensive CCTV network and the installation of Hostile Vehicle Mitigation barriers to protect crowds and public spaces.
Authorities also encouraged residents and visitors to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to security personnel during the visit.
The state visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic ties between the United Kingdom and Nigeria, while drawing international attention due to the ceremonial and political significance of hosting a foreign leader at Windsor.
