Nigerian Man Denies Rape Allegations in UK Court; Claims Teen’s Story is a Lie

A 24-year-old Nigerian man, Gift Oladele, has pleaded not guilty to raping a 19-year-old woman in Wrexham, UK.

The victim alleged that Oladele dragged her from a main road into nearby woods and sexually assaulted her after a night out.

Prosecutor James Coutts told Mold Crown Court that the teenager was “left terrified” during the incident.

“I didn’t rape this girl,” Oladele told the court. “It’s a lie.” He claimed the sex was consensual, but the victim described the psychological impact, saying, “I’m frozen. I felt like I couldn’t move because I knew what was coming”.

Oladele, who runs a cleaning business in Manchester, faces two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

He has a previous conviction for false imprisonment after a similar attack on a woman in Manchester in 2022, where he was described as a “danger to women”.

The victim told police, “What I went through I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. I was scared for my life.”

The trial is ongoing, with Oladele remanded in custody until sentencing next month.
