A devastating gas tanker explosion on Lagos’ Lekki-Epe Expressway has claimed two lives and left a trail of destruction.
The accident occurred around 2:36 a.m. at Tera Ahmed bus stop in Sangotedo, when a speeding tipper truck crashed into a stationary gas tanker.
The impact triggered a massive fire, engulfing nearby shops and warehouses, and killing the tipper driver and his assistant. The gas tanker driver miraculously escaped unhurt.
Firefighters from Lekki Phase II, Oniru, and Epe II stations responded promptly, containing the blaze and saving a nearby petrol station and another tanker.
Authorities are working to clear the wreckage and investigate the cause of the accident
