Suspected bandits on Sunday stormed a church in Omugo community, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, disrupting a service and taking several worshippers away.
The early morning attack threw the church into chaos, as the armed men invaded the premises and forcefully whisked away their victims.
Sources said the incident happened while members were gathered for their regular worship. A source within the Kwara South Joint Security Watch, who preferred not to be named, revealed that no fewer than seven people were abducted.
Security operatives responded quickly to the situation, managing to rescue three of those taken.
Confirming the incident, the state Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju, praised the joint efforts of security personnel, local vigilantes, and forest guards for pushing back the attackers and securing the release of some victims.

It helped prevent further damage and led to the rescue of three abductees.Olukoju added that security agencies have been directed to step up efforts to free those still in captivity and ensure those behind the attack are brought to justice.
While acknowledging the progress made so far, she stressed the need for continued operations to rescue the remaining victims and track down the culprits.
She described the attack on a place of worship as deeply disturbing and completely unacceptable, noting that such violence has no place in society.
The Commissioner also urged residents to stay alert and work closely with security agencies by sharing useful information when necessary.
She noted that ongoing operations in nearby forests are already yielding results in the fight against criminal activities in the area.
The incident comes amid growing security concerns in Kwara South, following earlier warnings of possible attacks in parts of the region.
The Kwara South Joint Security Watch had previously alerted residents about potential coordinated attacks in Ifelodun, Irepodun, and Isin local government areas.
Its coordinator, Olaitan Oyin-Zubair, said security forces, including military and paramilitary units, have been deployed, with aerial surveillance added to strengthen efforts and prevent further incidents.
He also called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity as authorities continue working to restore peace in the area.
