I’ll Face Tinubu” — Fayose Hints at 2027 Presidential Run.

Former governor, Ayodele Fayose has revealed he may throw his hat into the ring for Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election if his party gives him the green light.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, the outspoken politician said he would not shy away from challenging the current president, Bola Tinubu, should he emerge as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Fayose explained that his potential ambition depends entirely on the internal decision of his party, stressing that the party’s national convention is the legitimate platform for selecting a presidential flag bearer. According to him, he is ready to respect the outcome of that process, regardless of who eventually gets the ticket.

He added that anyone seeking the nation’s top job must be fully prepared, capable of building nationwide support, and able to connect with Nigerians across different regions and backgrounds.

“I would love to contest against BAT; if the PDP picks me as flag bearer, I will do my best,” he said.

Fayose also weighed in on possible contenders in other political camps ahead of the 2027 race. He predicted that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar could secure the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress.

While acknowledging the popularity and political strength of Peter Obi, Fayose noted that winning the presidency at this stage may still prove difficult for the former Anambra governor.

With political alignments already beginning to shift ahead of 2027, Fayose’s remarks add another voice to the growing debate over who could challenge the incumbent in Nigeria’s next presidential contest.
