U.S. President, Donald Trump, has issued a strong warning to Iran, declaring that American military forces will remain stationed around the country until Tehran fully honours the agreement reached with the United States.
In a message posted on his Truth Social platform on Wednesday, Trump said U.S. warships, aircraft, troops, and additional military equipment will stay deployed in the region to ensure Iran complies with the terms of the deal.
According to the President, the American military presence will not be withdrawn until what he described as the “real agreement” with Iran is fully respected.
“All U.S. ships, aircraft, and military personnel — along with additional ammunition and weaponry — will remain in place in and around Iran until the agreement is completely complied with,” Trump said.
He also warned that if Iran fails to meet its obligations, the United States could quickly resume military action.
“If for any reason that does not happen, which is highly unlikely, then the ‘shootin’ starts’ — bigger, better and stronger than anyone has ever seen before,” the President added.
The latest warning comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East following a fragile ceasefire agreement linked to the ongoing conflict involving Israel and Iran.
Earlier on Wednesday, Iranian officials said it would be “unreasonable” to move forward with peace negotiations with Washington after Israeli forces carried out some of their heaviest strikes yet on Lebanon, reportedly killing hundreds of people.
A major point of dispute between the two sides remains Iran’s nuclear programme. Trump insists Tehran has agreed to halt uranium enrichment, while Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says the country is still allowed to continue enrichment under the terms of the ceasefire.
Trump also stressed that the agreement requires Iran to abandon any pursuit of nuclear weapons and ensure that the vital Strait of Hormuz — a key global oil shipping route — remains open and secure.
Despite the temporary ceasefire, the sharp rhetoric from both sides suggests that tensions between Washington and Tehran remain far from resolved.
