Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has celebrated the rebirth of the historic Tolu Schools Complex in Ajegunle following a major reconstruction that has transformed the once-overstretched facility into a modern education hub.
According to the Governor, the newly regenerated complex was officially commissioned with several other landmark projects, with Godswill Akpabio representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event.
Sanwo-Olu explained that the project involved a complete overhaul of a cluster of 36 public schools, turning them into a functional and dignified learning environment for thousands of students. The upgrade introduced newly constructed classroom blocks, refurbished buildings, a fully equipped vocational training centre, modern science laboratories, and a dedicated ICT hub designed to improve digital learning.

Over time, however, the facilities became overstretched due to the growing student population, prompting the State Government to embark on a comprehensive regeneration of the entire complex.
He said the transformation was long overdue and aimed at restoring pride and dignity to public education in the community.
Sanwo-Olu also shared that the highlight of the commissioning was seeing the excitement on the faces of the students who now have access to better classrooms and learning facilities.
According to him, moments like that are the true motivation behind government projects.
“Every child in Ajeromi-Ifelodun deserves a safe, modern and inspiring place to learn,” he said, stressing the administration’s commitment to improving education infrastructure across Lagos.
Beyond the school complex, the Governor revealed that other projects unveiled during the event included the Maracana Stadium — now renamed in honour of President Tinubu — as well as the Fresh Food Hub in Abijo, a facility expected to make affordable food more accessible to families.
Sanwo-Olu assured residents that the Lagos State Government will continue to invest in impactful infrastructure that improves everyday life and creates opportunities for communities across the State.
