Ita-Oba Day Fiesta 2026: Culture, Colour, and Community Take Over the Streets
Ita-Oba stood still as indigenes, friends, and well-wishers trooped out in grand style for this year’s Ita-Oba Day Fiesta. From sunrise drumming to midnight fireworks, the ancient town turned into a festival of identity and pride on Friday, May 29.
Traditional rulers led the parade in full regalia, while masquerades, cultural troupes, and youth groups painted the streets with rhythm and pageantry. The highlight? A colourful carnival procession that saw generations dancing side by side, elders in agbada and iro-gbari, youths in creative Ankara fits, all moving to the same beat.
Beyond the glam, Ita-Oba Day 2026 was about unity and homecoming. Sons and daughters who travelled far returned to celebrate heritage, give back, and reaffirm their roots. Food stalls served up hometown flavours, praise-singers traded verses for the oba, and every corner became a photo moment.
As the final drums faded, one message rang clear: Ita-Oba’s culture isn’t just remembered here, it’s lived. And this year’s fiesta proved the flame burns brighter with every generation.
