Troops Rescue Ex-General’s Wife After She Was Shot by Bandits in Katsina

Nigerian Army troops have rescued Mrs. Abubakar, the wife of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, after she was shot by armed bandits during a rescue operation in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The dramatic rescue followed a fierce confrontation between troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA and the fleeing gunmen on Monday.

Security analyst, Zagazola Makama, disclosed the development in an exclusive report shared on his official X handle on Monday night.

According to him, the operation was carried out under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III following intelligence-driven offensives launched in Matazu and neighbouring communities after the abduction of the retired senior military officer’s wife.

Quoting security sources, Makama said troops engaged the bandits at Tunga village during a search-and-rescue mission, forcing the criminals to flee under intense military pressure.

“The bandits shot her and fled when we made contact at Tunga village. We have rescued Mrs. Abubakar. She is bleeding. We have given her first aid and are moving her for urgent medical attention,” a military source said.
