A massive fire broke out on Thursday at a multi-storey building occupied by a Polaris Bank branch on Broad Street, Lagos Island, Lagos State, triggering panic in the area.
Dramatic videos shared on social media captured thick plumes of smoke pouring from the building as residents, traders and other business owners gathered nearby, watching emergency responders battle the raging inferno.
Firefighters and other emergency personnel were seen working tirelessly to contain the blaze and stop it from spreading to adjoining buildings.
The cause of the fire was yet to be determined as of the time this report was filed.
Authorities, including emergency management agencies and the Lagos State Government, had not issued any official statement on the incident.
No casualties had been confirmed as of press time.
