Lagos Police: Mushin Safe After Bomb Scare

Following a recent security alarm in the Mushin area of Lagos, the Lagos State Police Command has officially declared the location safe. This confirmation comes after a swift response to a distress call regarding a suspected explosion earlier in the day on Monday, June 22, 2026.

Upon receiving reports of an alleged explosion, authorities mobilized immediately to secure the area. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, visited the site to conduct an on-the-spot assessment of the situation.

According to a statement released by the Command on their official X page, the following actions were taken:

  • Operatives from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal-Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD-CBRN) Unit were rapidly deployed to the scene.
  • The immediate vicinity was cordoned off to ensure public safety while a thorough search and recovery operation was carried out.
  • Following the comprehensive assessment, authorities confirmed that no explosive devices were discovered, and the area was officially declared free of any Improvised Explosive Device (IED) threats.

CP Fatai urged all residents of Mushin and the surrounding communities to remain calm and proceed with their normal, lawful daily activities. The Command has provided assurances that adequate security measures and personnel have been deployed to safeguard lives and property in the area.
