OWERRI, Imo State: Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has appealed to Nigerians to support the re-election of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the 2027 presidential election.
The First Lady appealed on Wednesday during her visit to Imo State, where she participated in a women’s empowerment programme and interacted with Catholic women in the state.
Speaking during the event, Mrs Tinubu urged Nigerians to continue supporting the President, expressing her desire to see a better Nigeria and enjoy the country in her old age.
“Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una, and Nigeria go better. I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age,” she said.
Her comments came as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to gather momentum across the country.
First Lady empowers women in Imo
During the visit, Mrs Tinubu also announced an empowerment programme for women in Imo State.
A total of 2,500 women in the state are expected to benefit from the initiative, which provides equipment and financial assistance aimed at helping women establish or expand their businesses.
The programme is part of a wider initiative targeting women across the five South-East states.
Beneficiaries are expected to receive items including generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders and ovens, depending on their areas of economic activity.
The First Lady also announced additional cash support of ₦100,000 for each of the 2,500 beneficiaries in Imo State following support from the state government.
She urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the items and financial assistance to improve their livelihoods and support their families.
Uzodimma backs Tinubu for 2027
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, also expressed support for President Tinubu’s bid for a second term.
Uzodimma said the people of Imo State appreciated the Federal Government’s interventions in the state and pledged continued support for the President ahead of the 2027 election.
The First Lady’s visit also featured recognition from traditional leaders in the state, who conferred a chieftaincy title on her.
Mrs Tinubu’s call for support for her husband comes amid growing political mobilisation by various political parties and groups ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
