DAP Experience Centre Welcomes First Visitors as Landmark Nigerian Heritage Project Takes Its First Step

Lagos, Nigeria-The DAP Experience Centre in Lagos has welcomed its first visitors, marking a significant milestone for a project designed to showcase Nigeria’s history, culture and identity to the world.

The historic visit brought together the TVC News team and students from the Department of Transport Management, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. Their arrival made them the first television crew and first tertiary institution to experience the facility before its official commissioning.

For the team behind the project, the moment represented more than a simple tour. It was the beginning of a new chapter for a vision that had taken more than two decades to build.

Speaking during the visit, the founder of the DAP Experience Centre Dayo Adedayo described the occasion as the moment when the building began to “come alive,” saying the centre was created to tell Nigeria’s story through its beauty, diversity and achievements.

The facility was designed with a strong focus on purpose and storytelling, with every part of the building reflecting a connection to Nigeria’s heritage. From its architectural features to its exhibition spaces, the centre aims to create an environment where visitors can learn about the country’s people, landscapes, history and cultural identity.

During the tour, students and journalists explored different sections of the centre and asked questions about the inspiration behind its design, including the arrangement of spaces, windows and structures.

The conversations went beyond architecture, focusing on the importance of Nigerians preserving and sharing their own stories.

According to the founder, Dayo Adedayo, the DAP Experience Centre was established to help people discover the many sides of Nigeria, allowing visitors to experience the country beyond the negative narratives often seen in the media.

He explained that the vision is for a child from any part of Nigeria to walk into the centre and learn about other regions, cultures and communities, while international visitors can gain a deeper understanding of the country’s heritage.

One of the most memorable moments of the visit came as the students of Olabisi Onabanjo University prepared to leave. Without prior arrangement, they gathered and sang their university anthem, creating an emotional atmosphere inside the centre.

The sound of young voices filling the halls became a symbolic moment for the project, with the founder describing it as the building’s first heartbeat.

Reflecting on the journey behind the centre, he said the milestone represented years of dedication, challenges, prayers and determination. He noted that while an official opening ceremony with dignitaries and guests will come later, the true beginning had already happened through the first visitors who walked through its doors.

The DAP Experience Centre is expected to serve as a space for education, research, creativity and tourism, providing opportunities for Nigerians and visitors from around the world to explore the country’s story.

The project’s message is clear: Nigeria’s story should be told by Nigerians, through a platform that celebrates its people, culture and achievements.
