OSOGBO, Osun State — It was a moment of celebration for Governor Ademola Adeleke and members of his family after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.

In videos circulating online, the governor and his family members were seen singing and celebrating the electoral victory, marking an emotional end to a closely watched contest.

The celebration followed INEC’s declaration of Adeleke as the winner after the final results were collated across Osun State’s 30 local government areas.

Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who polled 444,815 votes. Adeleke won in 19 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

The governor’s nephew, Afrobeats superstar Davido, also joined the celebrations from afar. Shortly after the result was announced, Davido posted a message celebrating his uncle’s victory, writing, “We did it, Unc.”

The victory gives Adeleke another term as governor and further strengthens the political prominence of the Adeleke family in Osun State.

For the family, the result marked the culmination of weeks of campaigning and political mobilisation, with Adeleke’s supporters also taking to the streets of Osogbo to celebrate after the official declaration.
