LAGOS, NIGERIA: Gospel singer and worship minister Nathaniel Bassey has been left speechless after his friend and fellow clergyman, Pastor Jerry Eze, surprised him with a brand-new Range Rover to mark his 45th birthday.

Bassey celebrated his birthday on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and revealed the surprise in a post shared on social media on Friday.

According to the gospel singer, he had planned to spend his birthday quietly, giving thanks to God, unaware that Jerry Eze had been working behind the scenes with his wife to organise the surprise.

Bassey described the secret arrangement as a “holy coup” and admitted that he struggled to find the right words to express his reaction.

The singer also revealed that Eze insisted on getting him the best possible vehicle after his wife initially suggested another option.

According to Bassey, Eze simply told his wife: “My brother can’t drive that.”

Bassey said the gesture was another reflection of Eze’s generous nature, revealing that the pastor was already planning similar surprises for other people.

He wrote that Pastor Jerry “gives like his life depends on it.”

Publicly thanking Eze, Bassey stressed that their friendship goes beyond material gifts, saying he would still love and appreciate his friend even if the birthday surprise had never happened.

He also prayed that the joy Eze had brought to him and his family would return to the pastor and his family in multiple folds.

The gospel singer subsequently shared images of himself with the new vehicle and described himself as “speechless” and “still stunned.”
