Enugu Air Begins International Operations With Enugu-Douala Route
Enugu State-owned airline launches twice-weekly service to Cameroon, opening a new regional air connection between Southeast Nigeria and Central Africa.
ENUGU, Nigeria: Enugu Air has officially commenced international operations with the launch of a direct flight between Enugu and Douala, Cameroon, marking a new phase in the airline’s expansion beyond Nigeria.
The maiden international flight departed from Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, and arrived in Douala before returning to Nigeria.
The new service will operate twice weekly, providing passengers with a direct connection between southeastern Nigeria and Cameroon.
The launch also creates an additional travel option for passengers from other parts of Nigeria who can connect through Enugu before continuing to Douala.
Enugu Air began commercial operations in 2025 and has expanded its domestic network to several Nigerian cities, including Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Kano, Owerri, Asaba, Benin City and Warri.
Speaking on the international launch, the airline’s Chief Executive Officer, Captain Tolu Ita, said the move represents an important step in the company’s ambition to connect people, businesses and markets across Africa.
The Enugu-Douala route is expected to support travel for business, tourism, trade and other activities between Nigeria and Cameroon.
The development also comes as Enugu continues to position itself as an important aviation and commercial hub in southeastern Nigeria.
With Douala as its first international destination, Enugu Air is expected to pursue further regional expansion as it develops its international network.
