Governor Abiodun Hands 40 SUVs to Ogun Monarchs.

In a move that turned heads across Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has presented dozens of brand-new SUVs to traditional rulers, a gesture aimed at boosting their mobility and strengthening their role in maintaining peace in their communities.

The Governor unveiled 40 brand-new sport utility vehicles for monarchs during the statutory meeting of the Ogun State Council of Obas held at the Obas’ Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to Abiodun, the vehicles are meant to support the royal fathers in carrying out their duties more effectively and reinforce their role as key partners in governance.

Speaking at the event, the Governor praised the traditional rulers for serving as custodians of culture and trusted intermediaries between government and grassroots communities. He noted that their continued cooperation has helped preserve the peaceful atmosphere that allows development and investment to flourish in the State.

Abiodun also used the gathering to send a clear message to communities across the State: Ogun must remain welcoming to investors. He warned that hostility toward businesses could discourage major investments capable of creating jobs, expanding infrastructure, and improving livelihoods.

The Governor specifically expressed concern about reports of resistance to investors in some areas, including Yewa South, Ipokia, and Ijebu North, urging traditional rulers to work closely with their people to maintain a friendly environment for economic growth.

On the issue of security, Abiodun called on both residents and traditional institutions to remain vigilant amid rising security concerns in parts of the country. He urged them to quickly report suspicious movements or activities to law enforcement agencies to keep communities safe.

He also cautioned monarchs against indiscriminate land allocation and warned property owners against renting their buildings to criminals, stressing that any structure used for illegal activities would face demolition.

Officials at the meeting commended the Governor’s gesture and his administration’s development agenda. The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hazmat, described the initiative as part of efforts to deepen collaboration between government and traditional institutions.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Council and Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, praised the Governor for his support for traditional institutions and reaffirmed the monarchs’ commitment to promoting peace, stability, and economic growth across Ogun State.

The highlight of the gathering was the symbolic handover of the 40 SUVs — a move the government says will help royal fathers move more easily across their domains while strengthening grassroots engagement and community leadership.
