A coalition of concerned citizens from Efon Alaaye, comprising local and diaspora residents, has issued a strong warning to Hon. Oladapo Karounwi, Commissioner for Physical Planning in Ekiti State. The group alleges that Karounwi’s actions are sowing discord and potentially destabilising the local government area.
In a statement signed by Mr p Otunla Kayode, Convener of the Concerned Efon Alaaye Citizens (CEAC), and Comrade Adebayo Adedamola, Public Relations Officer, the group accused Karounwi of autocratic leadership and disregard for due process in handling APC affairs. They claim that his actions are detrimental to the community’s reputation and undermine its positive political trajectory.
The group specifically cited Karounwi’s alleged manipulation of the APC election primaries in Efon Alaaye Local Government as a prime example of his high-handedness. They urged Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji to intervene and restrain Karounwi from further actions that could jeopardise peace and stability in the community.
The concerned citizens emphasised that Efon Alaaye has a history of peaceful coexistence and loyalty to the government. They stressed that they will not stand idly by while Karounwi’s actions undermine the community’s progress and stability. The group called for immediate action to prevent a potential crisis and ensure the continued peace and development of Efon Alaaye.
