Irish actor, Michael Patrick, known for appearing in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, has died at the age of 35 after a long fight with a devastating neurological illness.

The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his wife, Naomi Sheehan, who revealed that the actor had been living with Motor Neuron Disease since 2023. Patrick reportedly passed away peacefully at a hospice in Northern Ireland, surrounded by close family and friends.

In an emotional tribute shared after his death, Sheehan described her husband — affectionately known as “Mick” — as a man who touched countless lives with his strength, humour and positivity, even while battling a life-limiting illness.

According to her, Patrick remained a source of inspiration to everyone who knew him, refusing to let his illness define him and continuing to embrace life with remarkable courage.

She remembered him as someone full of energy and warmth, whose laughter and optimistic outlook lifted the spirits of those around him.

“Words can’t capture the depth of our heartbreak,” she said while reflecting on his life. She added that her late husband lived with passion and simplicity, believing that the most important things in life were to enjoy good food, share moments with loved ones and give love freely.

Patrick, who also appeared in several stage productions and television projects during his career, earned admiration not only for his performances but also for the resilience he showed after his diagnosis. Despite the progression of his illness, he continued to work and inspire others in the creative industry.

His passing has triggered an outpouring of tributes from fans, colleagues and friends who remember him as both a talented performer and a deeply uplifting human being.

For many, Michael Patrick will be remembered not just for the roles he played on screen, but for the remarkable spirit he displayed throughout his life.
