Jigawa’s APC Elders Committee threw its weight behind Governor Umar Namadi and President Bola Tinubu on Monday, May 4, presenting nomination forms to the governor and pledging ₦100 million for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
At a brief ceremony in the Council Chamber, Government House Dutse, committee leader Ali Sa’adu-Birninkudu handed the forms to Namadi before an audience of senior party figures and government officials.
Sa’adu-Birninkudu, a former Jigawa governor, said the elders reviewed Namadi’s record and were impressed by his “commitment to governance, accountability and people-centred development.”
He added that Tinubu’s reform agenda had also “positively touched many lives across Jigawa and Nigeria.”
“This fulfils our earlier pledge to purchase forms for both Governor Namadi and President Tinubu,” he said.
He urged Namadi to arrange a meeting with the President so the elders could personally present a ₦100 million cheque to fund Tinubu’s nomination forms.
“We remain committed to supporting leaders who deliver meaningful governance,” Sa’adu-Birninkudu said, praying for “divine wisdom, strength and electoral victory” for both men in 2027.
Governor Namadi thanked the elders, calling the move “encouraging and deeply appreciated.” He promised to facilitate the meeting with Tinubu, adding: “This gesture shows that Jigawa remains firmly behind the APC.”
The committee reaffirmed its loyalty to the party and its candidates at all levels.
