LASPA Lists 200 Ikeja Roads For Paid Parking Scheme

The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has officially unveiled a list of 200 roads across Ikeja slated for the commencement of its paid on-street parking scheme scheduled to begin in July 2026.
The development marks a major step in the Lagos State Government’s ongoing effort to tackle indiscriminate parking, reduce traffic congestion and improve urban road management across commercial districts in the state.
According to details obtained by PixelPulse Media, the pilot phase will focus heavily on high-traffic business corridors, entertainment hubs and densely populated commercial streets within Ikeja.
LASPA Targets Congestion Hotspots
Authorities say the selected roads were carefully chosen based on traffic volume, commercial activity and road width suitable for regulated parking operations without obstructing vehicular movement.

Enforcement To Begin In July
LASPA says enforcement operations will begin once the scheme officially launches in July 2026.
Officials disclosed that violators risk:
- Vehicle clamping
- Towing
- Warning notices
- Penalty payments for illegal parking
The agency also revealed that payments for parking will be processed digitally through approved government payment channels.
What This Means For Motorists
The planned rollout is expected to generate mixed reactions among motorists and business owners in Ikeja.
While some residents believe the policy could help restore sanity to heavily congested roads, others have expressed concerns over possible increases in transportation and business operating costs.
LASPA, however, insists the initiative is designed to create a more organised parking structure while improving traffic flow across Lagos.
Ikeja will serve as the pilot phase before possible expansion into other commercial districts, including Lekki, Victoria Island and Lagos Island.
