Nathaniel Idowu Foundation Kicks Off Maiden 4-Week Summer Camp at Maracana Stadium

The Nathaniel Idowu Foundation is set to host the maiden edition of its four-week Summer Camp at the newly rejuvenated Maracana Sports Complex in Ajegunle, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The camp will run from August 3 to August 28, the Foundation said in a statement issued on Sunday, July 12.

Developing Talent, Building Character
According to the Foundation, the programme is a youth development initiative designed to inspire, educate, and empower children during the long school holiday through sports and life-enriching activities.

It is open to boys and girls aged 10 to 16, and will give participants the chance to develop their sporting talents while learning key life skills in a safe and supportive environment.

“The Summer Camp is more than just a holiday programme. It is an opportunity to nurture young talents, build confidence, encourage healthy living, promote discipline and create lasting friendships among children from diverse backgrounds,” the Foundation stated.

What to Expect
Participants will receive professional coaching in football, basketball, and athletics from experienced coaches and instructors.

Beyond sports, the camp will feature:

  • Teamwork exercises and fun games
  • Leadership development sessions
  • Character-building activities aimed at raising confident, disciplined, and responsible young people,

All activities will be conducted in a structured and friendly environment under the supervision of qualified coaches and facilitators to ensure the safety and well-being of every child.

‘Let Her Play’ for Inclusion
The Foundation said the camp also underscores its commitment to inclusion through the ‘Let Her Play’ initiative, aimed at ensuring girls are given equal opportunities to participate, compete, and develop their sporting abilities alongside boys.

Call for Enrolment
The Nathaniel Idowu Foundation urged parents and guardians to enrol their children, noting that the camp will keep them productively engaged throughout the holiday while exposing them to positive values and healthy lifestyles.

The Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to transforming lives through education, health, and sports, and said it will continue to invest in programmes that develop the next generation of leaders and athletes in Nigeria.
