Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi has instituted a defamation suit against politician and actor Kenneth Okonkwo, seeking ₦8 billion in damages.
According to reports, Okonkwo has been served with court processes requiring him to present evidence and documentation to substantiate the allegations he made against Obi.
The suit, filed at the High Court, alleges that statements made by Okonkwo were false and damaging to Obi’s reputation.
As of press time, neither Obi’s legal team nor Okonkwo has issued an official statement on the matter. Proceedings are expected to commence once Okonkwo files his defense.
