Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Age has dumped the All Progressives Congress, citing a mismatch between his political goals and the party’s direction in Delta State.
In a resignation letter dated May 22, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of Orogun Ward 2 in Ughelli North LGA, Omo-Age said the decision takes immediate effect.
He noted that after weighing recent developments in the state APC and consulting with allies, he concluded his aspirations and the interests of Delta Central would be better served outside the party.
“I will not sit idle in a party where I cannot advance the interests of Delta Central, Delta State, and Nigeria,” he wrote.
Omo-Age thanked the APC for the opportunity to serve as Deputy President of the 9th Senate, wished the party well, and asked for his name to be removed from all membership records and communication lists.
The former senator said his focus remains on delivering development and effective representation for Delta Central and Nigeria, adding that he will pursue those goals outside the APC platform.
The move follows his defeat to incumbent Senator Ede Dafinone in the recent APC Delta Central Senatorial District primary.
