ABUJA, April 14, 2026 — Police arrested 50 suspects in a nationwide sweep for killings and terror. The raids target gangs behind attacks on security officers and civilians.

Federal police spokesman Anthony Okon Placid confirmed the arrests on Tuesday. He said officers have detained the 50 suspects since January. The operation used “human and technical intelligence”.
The sweep covered Kwara and Kogi states and other regions. It follows a November 18 attack on Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara. Gunmen abducted 38 people there.
Police said a 33-member gang carried out the church raid. The same gang faces blame for other kidnappings, cattle rustling, and armed robbery.

In the North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji killed 20 terrorists and arrested 48. Operation Hadin Kai took down 33 terrorists in the North-East.
