President Bola Tinubu has officially decorated Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the Acting Inspector-General of Police, marking his leadership of the Nigeria Police Force. The ceremony took place on February 25, 2026, at the State House in Abuja.
Disu, a seasoned police officer with over 30 years of service, assumed office as the 23rd indigenous Inspector-General of Police, succeeding Kayode Egbetokun (Rtd). He has extensive experience in operations, investigations, intelligence, and administration, having held key positions across the country.
Before his appointment, Disu served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos. He has also served as Commissioner of Police in the Federal Capital Territory and Rivers State, and Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos.
President Tinubu charged Disu to strengthen internal security and build on ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force. Disu pledged to consolidate reforms, improve professionalism, and strengthen police-community collaboration.
