England’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been thrown into uncertainty after thieves broke into vehicles transporting the team’s training equipment ahead of their arrival in Kansas City.
The incident has prompted an investigation by the Football Association (FA), with footballs, boots and other essential training gear feared stolen before manager, Thomas Tuchel and his squad touched down in the United States.
The equipment was being transported to England’s training base at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City when the vehicles were reportedly broken into. The team is scheduled to arrive on Saturday afternoon, with the equipment expected to be in place before then.
Police officers responded to the scene on Friday night and are working closely with the FA to determine exactly what was taken. Reports indicate that two suspects have already been arrested in connection with the theft.
The incident threatens to disrupt Tuchel’s plans as England continue preparations for their opening World Cup Group match against Croatia on Wednesday, with kick-off scheduled for 9:00 p.m. BST.
England’s first full training session of the tournament is expected to take place on Sunday as the Three Lions begin their quest for World Cup glory.
