Tension broke out in Ondo State during the announcement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election results as suspected thugs disrupted the exercise, causing panic among party members and officials.
The incident occurred while party officials were preparing to formally present the outcome of the primary election, which was keenly contested by aspirants under the platform of the APC in the state.
Eyewitnesses said the situation escalated when a group of suspected thugs stormed the venue, forcing the process to be abruptly halted as people fled for safety.
Security operatives were reportedly deployed to restore order, but the disruption had already thrown the exercise into confusion, leaving the announcement incomplete.
The disruption has further heightened political tension within the party in the state, as stakeholders await a new date or directive for the continuation of the process under the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State.
