Trump Orders US Navy to Blockade Strait of Hormuz After Failed Iran Talks

US President Donald Trump has announced that the US Navy will immediately begin blockading the Strait of Hormuz, a critical waterway for global energy supplies, after talks with Iran failed to yield a deal to end the war.

Trump stated that any vessel paying tolls to Iran will be interdicted and warned that Iran will face severe consequences if it fires at US forces or peaceful vessels.

The move escalates tensions between the US and Iran, with Iran’s Revolutionary Guards warning that military vessels approaching the strait will be considered a ceasefire breach and dealt with harshly.

Iran’s Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said Trump’s threats would not affect Iran, emphasising their readiness to fight if necessary.

The conflict has resulted in thousands of deaths, disrupted the global economy, and sent oil prices soaring.

Trump believes Iran will continue to negotiate, calling the weekend discussions “very friendly”
