United Kingdom
The UK’s Post-Study Work visa lets graduates live and work for up to two years without needing a sponsor.
“This visa enables individuals to live and work in the UK for up to two years without needing sponsorship from an employer,” according to current PSW guidance. Graduates who land qualifying jobs can switch to the Skilled Worker visa for a longer stay.
Canada
Canada runs the Post-Graduation Work Permit. It gives up to three years of open work rights. “Graduates can enjoy a work permit lasting up to three years, a significant duration that allows them to accumulate valuable work experience in Canada”. That experience counts toward Permanent Residency through Express Entry.
Australia
Australia offers the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485). It allows graduates to stay two to four years, depending on their qualifications. The visa grants full work rights and is a strong pathway to permanent residency.
New Zealand
New Zealand’s Post-Study Work Visa gives up to three years, depending on your qualification and where you studied. You can work for any employer. Germany
Germany gives graduates *18 months* on a Job Seeker visa after study to find work related to their degree. Once employed, you can switch to an EU Blue Card or work permit. STEM graduates are in high demand. No tuition at public universities makes it cost-effective for Nigeria
Ireland
Ireland’s Third Level Graduate Programme allows *two years* stay-back for graduates of Level 9 and above courses. You can work full-time. After securing a Critical Skills Employment Permit, you can apply for residency after 2 years.

Why Post-Study Work Visas Nigerians Should Watch In 2026
