Basirat Damilola Marshall, daughter of renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall (KWAM1), has officially declared her intention to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly seat representing Surulere Constituency II in the 2027 general elections.
Currently serving as Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Marshall cited her 12 years of experience as a lawyer as a foundation for her political aspirations.
Marshall emphasised her commitment to serving the people of Surulere Constituency II, focusing on youth inclusion and leadership renewal.
She pledged to be the voice of young people in the House, stating, “I promise to be the voice of the youth in the House. I listen to the youths because I am one of you, and I understand what we truly need”
Basirat Marshall is a Nigerian lawyer and politician, the daughter of renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, also known as KWAM1.
She’s currently serving as Senior Special Assistant to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, a position she was appointed to in May 2024.
Marshall has over 12 years of experience as a lawyer, having been called to the Nigerian Bar on December 15, 2015.
She studied law at North America University in Houdegbe, Cotonou, and later earned a Master of Laws from the University of Lagos in 2022.
