Aisha Achimugu, founder of Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Ltd, has pushed back against claims linking her wealth to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, insisting her fortune was built on years of entrepreneurship.
Speaking amid swirling speculation about the source of her funds, Achimugu maintained that she has been running businesses since 2001, long before Sanwo-Olu became governor. She described suggestions of political patronage as baseless and an attempt to discredit her track record in the oil and gas sector.
Achimugu, who set up Oceangate Engineering Oil & Gas Ltd, said her focus has always been on building sustainable enterprises and creating jobs. She stressed that her association with public officials should not be misread as the foundation of her success.
“I’m an entrepreneur. My money is not from Sanwo-Olu,” she said, dismissing the rumors outright.
The businesswoman urged the public to judge her by her work and not by political narratives, adding that she remains committed to expanding her footprint in Nigeria’s energy industry.
