The Lagos State Police Command says it arrested 118 suspects and recovered 15 firearms, including locally made pistols and dane guns, during intensified operations across the state in April 2026.
Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Olayiwola Fatai, disclosed this at a press briefing in Ikeja, stating that the arrests were tied to armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, vandalism, and street violence.
“These achievements reaffirm our resolve to rid Lagos State of criminal elements and sustain peace, safety, and public confidence in policing,” CP Fatai said.

- 4 cutlasses, 1 knife, 21 bags of suspected Indian hemp, assorted charms
Highlights of major operations:
- Lekki-Maroko raid: 58 suspects linked to traffic robbery and phone snatching were arrested on April 27 in Ilasan, Lekki, and Maroko.
- Ikorodu kidnap-murder bust: Two suspects, Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ekwane Oghanetega, 21, were arrested for the kidnapping and murder of 17-year-old Thomson Omokhafe Adams on April 22. They also confessed to killing a female victim in November 2025 after collecting ₦300,000 ransom.
- Telecom vandals caught: Three suspects were arrested for stealing over 650 Glo power assets. Nine batteries were recovered in Ikeja, Alausa, and Ikorodu.
- Cultism crackdown: Eight suspected cultists were picked up in Iwaya on April 22. Another 20 alleged Aiye and Eiye members terrorising Lagos Island were arrested on April 20.
- Gun-running ring: Two suspects were arrested with a Beretta pistol that they tried to sell. The principal suspect in Kaduna is still being tracked.
Other arrests included armed robbers on Anthony Bridge, cultists in Ajao Estate, and five suspects linked to cult violence in FESTAC.
CP Fatai praised intelligence-led policing and urged Lagosians to keep providing timely information. “Criminal elements will find no haven anywhere within the State,” he said. “All suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of investigations.”
