President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended birthday greetings to Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the Lagos governor marks his 61st birthday, while also celebrating his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, who turned 64 on the same day.
In a goodwill message issued on Thursday, President Tinubu joined family members, members of the Lagos State Executive Council, political associates, business partners and residents of Lagos State in celebrating Governor Sanwo-Olu, praising what he described as years of disciplined leadership and exceptional service to both Lagos and Nigeria.
The President noted that Governor Sanwo-Olu has successfully combined his experience from both the private and public sectors to deliver notable achievements in governance, positioning himself as one of the country’s prominent subnational leaders.
Commending the governor’s performance, Tinubu highlighted the continued transformation taking place in Lagos under Sanwo-Olu’s administration, particularly in areas of economic growth, infrastructure development and the strengthening of the state’s global relevance.
Speaking on the governor’s impact, the President said, “Governor Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in consolidating on the economic, infrastructural, and cultural transformation of Lagos State into a vibrant, dynamic and structured global city, with growing influence across the country, and the world are remarkable.”
President Tinubu further praised the Lagos governor for sustaining the state’s long-standing reputation as Nigeria’s centre of excellence while continuing efforts aimed at making Lagos more inclusive and accessible for residents from different backgrounds.
The President also acknowledged Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noting his loyalty to the party and his role in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda through inclusive politics and peaceful political transitions within Lagos State.
Offering prayers as the governor celebrates another year, Tinubu wished him continued strength, wisdom and good health, expressing hope that his contributions and legacy in public service would remain impactful for years to come.
The President also used the occasion to celebrate his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, who marked his 64th birthday, applauding his years of dedication to national service and describing him as a trusted figure whose contributions continue to support the administration.
Tinubu praised Gbajabiamila for his loyalty, sacrifice and commitment to the country, while appreciating the role he has played in coordinating critical government processes since assuming office as Chief of Staff.
In his tribute, the President said, “As you celebrate your 64th birthday today, I deeply appreciate your loyalty, dedication, and sacrifice.”
He added, “Throughout the years, you have demonstrated capacity for service, placing national interest above personal considerations and working tirelessly for the progress of our country.”
The President further stated, “Your dedication to duty and ability to coordinate complex governmental processes have contributed immensely to the realisation of our Renewed Hope Agenda.”
Tinubu reflected on Gbajabiamila’s long political career, acknowledging his contributions to Nigeria’s democratic journey, including his service as Minority Leader in the House of Representatives and his later emergence as Speaker of the House, a position the President described as a defining chapter in the country’s legislative history.
The President also recognised Gbajabiamila’s contributions during the political negotiations that led to the formation of the APC, describing his role as instrumental in strengthening democratic governance in Nigeria.
Concluding his message, President Tinubu offered prayers for both men, asking God to grant them long life, good health, wisdom and many more years of meaningful service to the nation.
