President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, appointing Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He also nominated Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, subject to Senate confirmation.
According to Presidency sources, the move is part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and improve the country’s international relations strategy.
Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and has extensive diplomatic experience. Her return to the ministry is expected to reinforce continuity and expertise in Nigeria’s foreign policy direction.
Enikanolaiye, who previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations, brings decades of diplomatic experience to his new role.
The Presidency said the appointments are aimed at enhancing efficiency, strengthening global partnerships, and repositioning Nigeria’s foreign policy framework.
Enikanolaiye’s appointment will require Senate confirmation before he assumes office fully.
The changes mark another step in the Tinubu administration’s ongoing efforts to restructure key government institutions for improved performance in international diplomacy.
