President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially inducted two new members into his cabinet, swearing in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
The ceremony was held on Monday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, with family members of the appointees and top government officials in attendance.
Their appointments came in the wake of the resignations of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, both of whom stepped down to pursue governorship ambitions in their respective states.
Following their nominations by President Tinubu, Tegbe and Enikanolaiye secured Senate confirmation on May 6, 2026, paving the way for their inauguration.
Tegbe, a native of Ibadan in Oyo State, is widely regarded as a fiscal, economic and institutional reform strategist. He brings more than 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors, with a track record in policy implementation and stakeholder management.
Enikanolaiye, from Igbagun in Kogi State, graduated with a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he emerged as the best student in his faculty and earned the Dean’s Prize.
He later obtained a distinction in his Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos.
A seasoned diplomat, Enikanolaiye has represented Nigeria in several foreign missions, serving in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia; Belgrade, Serbia; Ottawa, Canada; and London, United Kingdom. His most recent overseas assignment was as Nigeria’s Head of Mission in New Delhi, India.
Before joining the Federal Executive Council, he served as Senior Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff to the President.
