AFRIMA President Mike Dada Pays Emotional Tribute to Late Wife on Posthumous 50th Birthday
The President and Executive Producer of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), Mike Dada, has penned an emotional tribute to his late wife, Modupe, as she would have marked her 50th birthday.
In a heartfelt statement released on Friday, Dada disclosed that the occasion marked Modupe’s second posthumous birthday, recalling how they had both discussed plans for the milestone celebration two years ago.
“When I had the conversation with you exactly 2 years ago on how you would like to celebrate your 50th birthday… little did I know that it would be your second posthumous birthday. God knows best,” he wrote.
Describing his late wife as “light in its purest form—steady, warm, and life-giving,” Dada praised her unwavering compassion, humility, loyalty, and the genuine love she shared with everyone around her.
“You were a loving, loyal and dependable wife, peaceful partner, selfless mother and destiny accelerator… humble and respectful to a fault,” he stated.
The AFRIMA boss revealed that despite support from therapists, pastors, coaches, friends, and family, the pain of her absence remains difficult to bear.
“Time has not learned how to move on without you,” he wrote, adding that her memory continues to live on through the impact she made and the love she left behind.
Dada also reflected on the emotional journey of grief, saying there are days when the weight of missing her feels overwhelming, while on other days he finds comfort in the enduring power of their love.
“There are days the weight of missing you feels unbearably overwhelming… And then there are days I find strength in knowing that love like ours does not end—it only changes form,” he added.
He said he and their daughters, Serere and Olorire, would celebrate her life and legacy, honouring not just the years she lived but the countless lives she touched.
“Happy 50th birthday, my love. You are missed deeply beyond words, endlessly cherished beyond measure, and loved beyond time,” Dada concluded.
Modupe Dada is remembered by many as a woman of grace, kindness, humility, and unconditional love.
