Police Arrest Suspected Counterfeit Syndicate Members in Sokoto
The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested four suspects allegedly linked to a counterfeit operation believed to have connections with the notorious “Sai Mallam” cult group.
According to police authorities, the arrests followed an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s Strike Force Unit in the Mana area of Sokoto metropolis. Security operatives reportedly acted on information supplied by a local resident, leading to the successful raid.
The operation forms part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement agencies to tackle organised crime and illegal activities across the state.
Police spokesperson DSP Ahmad Rufa’i confirmed the development in a statement released on Thursday. He said investigations were ongoing to uncover the full scope of the syndicate’s operations and identify additional collaborators.
Kidnap Victims Rescued During Separate Operation
In a separate security operation, police operatives rescued two kidnap victims during an anti-bandit mission in Binji Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
Authorities said the rescue mission was conducted after intelligence reports indicated the movement of suspected kidnappers within the area. The victims were freed unharmed, while security forces intensified efforts to track down fleeing suspects connected to the abduction.
The police command reiterated its commitment to strengthening security operations across Sokoto and urged residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with credible information.
“We remain committed to protecting lives and property,” the police spokesperson stated while assuring the public that criminal networks operating in the state would continue to face sustained pressure from security agencies.
